The Role and Responsibilities


The appointee will join the RMIT Theoretical Chemical and Quantum Physics research group (, with strong interactions with other research groups and institutions working under the ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science (ACEx). The appointee to this position will work with A/Prof. Jared Cole’s team, focussing on theoretical and computational models of exciton transport, generation and recombination. Key tasks of the appointee include theoretical research that contributes to the milestones of the research themes within ACEx, work with collaborators and prepare journal publications and reports on research progress. The successful applicant is expected to be involved in supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and take on a leadership role in the day-to-day operations of the group.


Skills & Experience Required

To be eligible to apply, candidates must have a PhD in theoretical or computational physics, or similarly relevant discipline.


Candidates should have research experience in theoretical and/or computational physics. In particular demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:

  1. Open-quantum systems theory, decoherence models, noise in quantum systems.
  2. Exciton physics in either molecular or semiconductor systems.
  3. Modelling of electronic or excitonic transport in nanostructures

The will also have demonstrated ability to define, investigate and solve complex problems in theoretical physics and data analysis using various techniques and approaches as required.
