The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University’s strategies related to RMIT’s academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.
The Student Wellbeing and Commercial Services Group lead the provision of services to support the welfare and wellbeing of students. The Group works proactively to remove barriers and provide support to students who may be at risk of not being able to access or successfully complete their tertiary study. In addition the Group responds to requests for assistance and support from students who have welfare and wellbeing concerns and from staff who may refer them. The Group is not only involved in direct service delivery but also in building capability among students through student mentoring, co-creation and leadership development initiatives, and among staff through focused professional development.
The Role & Your Responsibilities
This position will work with the Project Manager of Student Mental Wellbeing Initiatives to deliver strategic mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention activities for RMIT, with a focus on Vocational Education. The position will provide advice on RMIT’s implementation of the Framework for Promoting Student Mental Wellbeing in Universities and act as a dynamic, credible and authoritative spokesperson for RMIT on Student Mental Wellbeing Initiatives.
Central to the Senior Advisor, Student Mental Wellbeing Initiatives’ role is the successful delivery the yearlong Promoting Mental Wellbeing in Vocational Education Project. This position will lead the development of practical resources and delivery of innovative staff professional development (including webinar series, e-learning package and workshops). The Senior Advisor Mental Wellbeing Initiatives will design and implement targeted evidence-based strategies and engaging communication campaigns with impact.
Skills & Experience Required
You will have proven experience in the provision of expert advice on the effective design, implementation and evaluation of mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention initiatives. To be successful in this role, you will have strong communication and presentation skills, with experience acting as a credible and authoritative spokesperson for initiatives. You will have demonstrated experience in project management, resource development, implementation and project evaluation. As such, you will have the proven ability develop/or adapt evidence-based mental health resources, programs and services that engage, have impact, and are based on a clearly articulated theory of change. Your proven interpersonal skills will see you develop and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Coordinating the development, delivery and evaluation of a tailored e-learning package for RMIT Vocational Education teaching staff is also important to this role.
