The Role & Your Responsibilities

RMIT has large programs of work called “Focus Areas” that impact across the institution and are critical to achieving strategic objectives.  RMIT has a need for several program managers to oversee these complex programs of work. Some have IT components, but the major focus is business change and uplift.

The key focus of this role is to define, lead, and manage the delivery of these programs of work encompassing multiple concurrent projects and diverse stakeholder groups. The Program Director is directly accountable for ensuring program scope definition, planning and scheduling, change experience, financial reporting, issues and risk management, and the overall quality of the outcomes delivered for their program.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience working with complex, strategic programs of work, utilising program and project management frameworks, methodologies, tools, principles and practices
  • Proven experience in successfully introducing change into challenging, dynamic and complex environments
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong networks and relationships to influence effective program outcomes
  • Proven ability to be successful in a complex environment, working with diverse stakeholders to advance a strategic enterprise wide change agenda
  • Ability to work positively and influence a wide range of stakeholders, including senior executives
  • Collaborative, flexible style of working with organisational challenges and potential roadblocks
  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership and people management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully dealing with ambiguity & complexity (in relationships, risk, environment, technology, commercials)
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, advise and support people in understanding and embracing a new way of working
  • Extensive experience in budgeting and resource allocation
  • Experience in Agile methodology (desirable)
  • Education sector experience (desirable).
