About the role
The primary focus of the Manager, Security Operations is to manage the operations of the Security Unit to ensure a healthy and safe environment for the University community, including staff, students and visitors across all RMIT campuses. This will be delivered through effective contract management of the outsourced Security contract, day to day operational management of security functions and campus risk management, crisis and emergency response as required.

Reporting to the Campus Security Operations Senior Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic and operational security advice and feedback into planned capital programs and projects in line with the University’s Security Strategic Plan
  • The effective management of the day to day operations, including service delivery, outsourced contracts, budget, management of KPI’s, analysis and tracking of monthly outcomes of the Security Unit
  • Supporting with the responding to situations of crisis, including leadership of operational issues as required on site
  • Managing stakeholder relationships, including RMIT Security contractors, internal University personnel, students, visitors and emergency services external to RMIT, whilst providing a high level of customer-service
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive suite of RMIT Security policies and procedures in relation to day to day operations and contract management processes


About you
To be successful in this position, you will have previous experience managing day to day operations of a large and geographically disperse security team and have extensive knowledge of security operational systems in a large and complex organisation. In addition, you will have demonstrated ability in managing internal and external stakeholder relationships, with a client focused approach and a passion for security services delivery.

Exceptional operational judgement and problem-solving skills within a security risk management framework is essential to this position, coupled with a high level of communication and prioritising skills, and ability to build relationships and provide security advice to senior management. Knowledge of CCTV and entry access would be advantageous.

Qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Security, Facilities and / or Business Management, other relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience in a Government or non-Government security management role.
