The purpose of RMIT’s College of Vocational Education is to empower learners and our industry, community and government partners to succeed in the new world of work. The RMIT Skills & Jobs Centre
The RMIT Skills and Jobs Centre is a state government funded service that sits under the College of VE at RMIT. The Skills and Jobs Centre runs 2 career services, one aimed at graduating RMIT VE students and the other aimed at the Victorian public who are seeking assistance with employment and education options. Clientele range from existing students, long term unemployed, job seekers, new migrants, retrenched workers and Apprentices.

The Role:
RMIT Skills and Jobs Centre is seeking expressions of interest from applicants with a background in employment to help source job opportunities for our cohorts. As part of RMIT’s commitment to the long-term employability of students and Skills and Jobs Centre clients, you will be responsible for creating a weekly jobs board and liaising with local employers to assist students with the next stage of their careers. You will have a strong background in dealing with employer stakeholders and assisting students and clients with the recruitment process, including offering interview advice and assisting with tailoring CVs.
This role is part time, 28 hours per week, at Hew 6 ($53.37 per hour).
Your Responsibilities:
- Use Vocational Education (VE) student course data to source suitable employment opportunities for Vocational Education (VE) students and Skills and Job Centre (SAJC) clients
- Build relationships with local employers and agencies that have employment opportunities relevant for VE professions to advertise to our students and clients.
- Create a jobs board that will be marketed to VE Alumni, VE final year students & SAJC clients
- Facilitate the application and screening process between the applicant and employer
- Follow up with the employer to track job outcomes
- Assist with tailoring resumes & cover letters for job applications
- Help the students and clients find suitable vacancies to apply for
- Assist the applicant with preparing for job interviews
- Reverse market students and SAJC clients for suitable employment roles
- Work in conjunction with SAJC team to put together a career industry expo / event relevant for VE students and SAJC clients (if required)
- Record data / case notes / outcomes in our data bases
- This role will work closely with the SAJC & VE Careers team
About you:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience working with businesses to secure employment opportunities.
You will be available to start immediately or no later than 23rd March 2021
Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
