About the College

The STEM College Office Professional staff delivers services to all four Schools across five distinct functions:     

  • Student Lifecycle   
  • Planning & Operations   
  • Technical Services   
  • Program Lifecycle & Governance   
  • WIL & Engagement   

Relevant digital solutions – such as Workday – are used by the five teams to streamline processes and drive operational efficiencies. The Group’s end-to-end professional support ensures a consistent approach to the operational and strategic functioning of the College and adherence to University policies and procedures.   

The STEM College Office professional staff are instrumental in providing students with a transformative and enriched learning experience, and in supporting our research and engagement administration activities. Centralised in the College Office, at our City and Bundoora campuses, professional staff members have opportunities to cross-skill, engage in professional development and develop their own career paths.  

About You

Reporting to the Technical Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing expert technical service and advice to support the functions and users of the laboratories and workspaces. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and demonstrating the operation of laboratory equipment and instruments, while also providing technical support to staff and students.

In addition, you will be expected to ensure the maintenance of the laboratories and support the adoption and implementation of OHS standards, ensuring delivery of client centric, professional service.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have, but not limited to:

  • Demonstrated experience in working with medical radiation/medical imaging equipment
  • Proven experience with radiography software programs including SyngoVia, Eclips and ProKnow. Comfort with trouble shooting, essential
  • Experience with Siemens x-ray medical radiation equipment including Siemens digital and mobile x-ray systems is highly desirable but willingness to learn, essential
  • Understanding of Agfa radiography systems would be beneficial but willingness to learn, essential
  • Experience in VERT, highly desirable
  • A strong understanding of current OH&S legislation and regulations to comply with legislative and safety protocols around the use of medical ionising radiation including radioactive material
  • An ability to be responsible for routine quality assurance of equipment and liaising with the relevant vendors to schedule preventative maintenance servicing of equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment with excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance
  • Be responsible for the provision and collection of OSLs for academic staff and students
  • The ability to work in a team to assist academic staff in setting up the Skills Labs in preparation for classes (including safely transferring and moving anthropomorphic phantoms)
  • Excellent communication, relationship building and negotiation skills with the ability to work collegiately with academic and professional staff, students, and external clients from diverse cultural backgrounds

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Science or Engineering plus demonstrated experience in a Medical Radiations or Medical Imaging environment
  • Completion of a recognised Radiation Safety course relating to medical radiations or registered with AHPRA as a Medical Radiations Practitioner

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check, VIC Radiation License and ‘Safe Moving People’ certificate.
