About the position
The Pro-Vice Chancellor Indigenous Education, Research and Engagement (PVC IERE) is a position that will lead Indigenous activities University-wide and represent RMIT externally in Indigenous matters, be responsible for the University’s Indigenous policy, strategy, engagement, partnerships and direction in education, research and innovation, employment and community engagement.
A key accountability for the position will be the development and implementation of all aspects of RMIT’s strategic priorities and commitments to Indigenous participation and success. This position will play a significant leading role in the University’s achievement of its goals in the RMIT Strategy and through university-wide planning and action for employment, education, research and innovation including community engagement and partnerships.
This successful incumbent will also represent RMIT in governance and public policy matters related to Indigenous engagement and self-determination, participating in university forums and committees, public policy discussion and wider partnerships.

In collaboration with the Vice Chancellor’s Executive group, this new role will enable RMIT to increase support for Indigenous student and staff, advance Indigenous education, research, employment and community engagement to build and strengthen our position as an education destination for Indigenous people.

About youThis position is only available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and is designated as a special measure defined in section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Victoria).
A PhD is desirable or equivalent qualification, with professional experience relevant to senior appointment in Indigenous education and research.
